in celebration of 140 years of life together in faith on the palouse, emmanuel, moscow invites you to join in a weekend of exploration of music and arts in worship, featuring liturgical composer and musical artist, marty haugen.

    Come enjoy an evening of good food, friends, and fellowship. A feast for body, mind and soul. First dinner, then Marty! Catered by Happy Hog Meatery. Vegetarian options available.

    Friday Night Cost: $55

  • SATURDAY.

    10.12 8:30AM-3:00PM

    The day begins with a light breakfast and address by Marty Haugen. Then opportunities for workshops including Poetry & Prayer, Art & Christian Spirituality, an introduction to “Bless This Night,” a new vespers service out of Holden Village, and even a chance to play handbells! Lunch will also host a Q & A session with Marty Haugen. Then more workshops and a final address by Marty.

Marty Haugen is a liturgical composer, workshop presenter, performing and recording artist, and author from Eagan, Minnesota. For the past 30 years, Marty has presented hundreds of workshops and concerts across North and Central America, Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. He has over 30 recordings and more than 400 separate printed editions available through GIA Publications, Inc. and other publishers. He has a number of published mass settings for Roman Catholic communities, including Mass of Creation, and several worship settings for Lutheran congregations, including Holden Evening Prayer and Now the Feast and Celebration, as well as a communion setting for the new Evangelical Worship Book.

Marty has served as an editor or consultant to a number of hymnals and has been a contributor to hymnals or supplements for many denominational groups including the ELCA and ELCIC (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America and Canada), the United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church USA, the Mennonite Brethren, the United Church of Christ, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the United Church of Canada, the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, and Roman Catholic groups in Great Britain, Canada, Ireland, and Australia.

    Karla is a Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is the Director of Lutheran Campus Ministries at the University of Idaho and Washington State University. Something about art background.

    REV. DANIELLE ESTELLE RAMSAY

    Rev. Danielle Estelle Ramsay is a pastor, poet, and artist based in the Pacific Northwest. They currently serve Simpson United Methodist Church and the Wesley Foundation at WSU in Pullman. They have been writing and performing poetry across the states since 2008 and are the author of the poetry collection Someone Loves You Like This.

    LAURA ELMQUIST, HOLDEN VILLAGE

    Laura Elmquist is a flutist and pianist who graduated from Luther College in 2022 and now serves as the Holden Village Musician. At Luther, they studied music education and participated in Concert Band and Nordic Choir. Since their arrival at Holden in January of 2023, they have enjoyed collaborating with staff, faculty, and guest musicians, contributing to the creation of Bless This Night: Vespers ‘23 by arranging the C instrument score, and sharing their love of music with the community.
